EKG (electrocardiogram) screening

Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers a one-time screening EKG if you get a referral from your doctor or other health care provider as a result of your one-time “Welcome to Medicare” preventive visit. An EKG is also covered as a diagnostic test.

Who’s eligible?

All people with Medicare are covered.

Your costs in Original Medicare

• You pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount, and the Part B deductible applies.
• If you have the test at a hospital or a hospital-owned clinic, you also pay the hospital a copayment.
